Essential tremor is a movement disorder most recognized by uncontrollable shaking in different parts and on different sides of the body. Areas affected often include the hands, arms, head, larynx , tongue, chin and other areas. Normally used to treat high blood pressure, beta blockers such as propranolol help relieve tremors in some people. Beta blockers may not be an option if you have asthma or certain heart problems.

Often, tremors are the only symptom you have when you have essential tremor. Other conditions that cause tremors come with other symptoms.
